About The Council

Laurels School International is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi.

The Council was established in the year 1958 by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate with the assistance of the Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education.

Teaching Methodology

In its affiliation guidelines for schools, CISCE stresses on certain facts that assist in maintaining a high standard of teaching. It says that the medium of instruction must be English, and special attention should be paid to maintain a high standard of that language. Guidelines on homework also regulate the type and amount of homework that students should be given. Also, all the teachers must be postgraduates in the subject they are required to teach. All this aids in keeping the teaching methodology simple, up to date, and effective.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi was set up on the grounds that a board was required to administer the examinations being conducted in India by the University of Cambridge and to optimally tailor them according to the nation's need. The future education policies were prepared under the aegis of the Cambridge varsity.

After 1972, the Senior Cambridge examinations were largely superseded by the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate(ISC) examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), an autonomous body established in 1958.
