ENGLISH LANGUAGE WORKSHOP AT LAURELS SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL, INDORE
A workshop was conducted at Laurels School International, Indore, for English teachers to enhance their teaching skills. The resource person was Dr. Ranjini Krishnaswamy, who has been an integral member of the team of content developers for the modified ICSE curriculum.
Dr Rnjini Krishnaswamy is an academician with almost forty years of experience. She has been a school head for about 35 years, authored many books on poetry and Environmental Education. She is a recipient of the ‘Jijamata Puraskar’ for Women Achievers. The school Principal, Dr Anshu Deshmukh welcomed the guest. Vice Principal, Ms Thara Nair was also present at the occasion.
The workshop was conducted in two sessions. In the first session the focus was on how to teach English as a language rather than a subject. The expert, Dr Ranjini, shared many ideas as to how to make language interesting. She also suggested how to proceed gradewise according to the level of the children. This was carried out through a number of activities which enlightened the teachers, acquainting them with innovative methods to teach English.
In the second session she briefed the teachers about the new curriculum and how it would enable the students to have better expression and communication. The workshop was very informative and motivating.
The Managing Director , Dr. John M. Chacko, Director Mrs. Jaya Chacko and Director Ms. Jennifer Chacko encourage such workshops from time to time, to enhance the teachers and students. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Renu Kumar.
